Lois J. Bates

Lois J. Bates passed away Friday, September 19, 2026, following a brief illness.

She was born in Greenville, PA on September 24, 1961, the fourth daughter of Robert L. Bates Sr and Marian G. Youngblood Bates.

Lois was a graduate of Jamestown High School and Edinboro College. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant in a variety of employments.

She loved to travel. She was very adept at geneaology and has left a legacy of notes and documents for family members to read. She did many fundraisers for Relay for Life and Alzheimers.

Her favorite hobbies were reading, crocheting and collecting cookbooks, tea pots, tea cups and saucers. Lois lived life.

Lois is survived by two brothers, James Bates, Ralph (Connie) Bates; three sisters, Carol (Raymond) Karr, Donna (John) Scott, Mary (Grey) Berrier; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; And her dear friend, Christina from Texas.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother Robert Bates Jr., Sister and brother in law Janet and Rudy V. Solomon, a sister in law, L Renee Bates and a nephew Jared J. Bates.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Rose Simplicity 200 S. Erie St. Mercer.
